THE son of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein has met students and staff from the University as part of celebrations surrounding the Bernstein in Chichester centenary festival.
Alexander Bernstein flew over from New York for a performance of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, performed in the Cathedral on Saturday. The University visit was organised by Professor Laura Ritchie, and fellow festival curators Edward Milward-Oliver and Emma-Jane Wyatt, to continue Bernstein’s legacy to invest the love of music into young people through the pioneering Artful Learning initiative, which deepens academic learning through the arts.
Pictured are students from all three years of Musical Theatre study at Chichester with Alexander and Professor Ritchie. Also present were MA Music students, programme coordinators and lecturers from the Triple Threat, Performance, Musical Theatre, and Music Teaching courses, an international student hailing from Texas, Music alumni, Professor Ritchie, Edward Milward-Oliver, and Emma-Jane Wyatt.
