The company behind the Lodmoor Country Park cafe entered creditors' voluntary liquidation on 20 July. Who to contact if the Weymouth cafe owes you money.

Weymouth Bay Coffee Co Ltd, the company behind the cafe at Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth, has gone into creditors’ voluntary liquidation. Notices published in The Gazette on 22 July record that the company resolved to wind up on 20 July 2026, and that its members and creditors appointed Rikki Burton and Jasmine Baxter of Anderson Brookes Insolvency Practitioners as joint liquidators the same day. The winding-up notice gives the company’s principal trading address as Lodmoor Country Park, Preston Beach Road, Weymouth DT4 7SX, and describes its business as unlicensed restaurants and cafes. The Food Standards Agency’s hygiene register also lists Weymouth Bay Coffee Co at Lodmoor Country Park, on Preston Beach Road on the eastern side of town. The company was a young one. Companies House records show it was incorporated on 4 May 2023, so it lasted a little over three years; its status is now “Liquidation” and its registered office has moved to the liquidators’ address in Chorley, Lancashire, which is standard once liquidators take over. How the winding up happened

The process moved quickly. A notice published on 9 July called creditors to a virtual meeting at 10am on 20 July, with proofs of debt due by 4pm the previous business day. At that meeting the winding-up resolutions were passed and the joint liquidators appointed. (The Gazette, notice 5171025)

A creditors’ voluntary liquidation is the route a company’s own shareholders take when it cannot pay its debts: rather than waiting for a court to wind it up, they resolve to close it, and licensed insolvency practitioners then sell what the company owns and share the proceeds among creditors in the legal order of priority.

The notices do not say whether the cafe itself has stopped serving, and we found no public announcement from the company when we checked on 11 August. The liquidation applies to the company, not to Lodmoor Country Park, which carries on as normal.
