Liza Pulman, one third of the comedy trio Fascinating Aïda, is bringing her Barbra Streisand show to Dorchester Corn Exchange on Friday 30 October at 7.30pm. Dorchester Arts, which is promoting the night, says tickets are on sale now.
The show, called simply STREISAND, has “played to packed West End audiences”, according to Dorchester Arts, with reviewers “praising her ability to capture the vocal style and spirit of one of the world’s most iconic performers”. The arts charity quotes one description of her as “one of the very few artists who can truly emulate the vocal skills of the iconic Barbra Streisand”.

What she will sing
The concert has new arrangements of some of Streisand’s best-known songs, Dorchester Arts says, including:
- The Way We Were
- People
- You Don’t Bring Me Flowers
- Second Hand Rose
“alongside plenty of other favourites”. Pulman is backed by her band and her musical director, Joseph Atkins, according to the event listing, which calls the evening “a heartfelt tribute to one of the world’s greatest entertainers” and promises “warmth, wit and captivating storytelling” between the songs.
Beyond Fascinating Aïda, Pulman “has also built a successful career as a solo singer, winning praise for her powerful voice and captivating stage presence”, in the words of the Dorchester Arts release.
Getting there
The Corn Exchange is on High East Street in the middle of Dorchester. There is no parking on site; Dorchester Arts points people to the town centre car parks (our Dorset parking page has the council’s charges). The building has wheelchair access and accessible toilets, and the venue asks anyone with specific needs to say so when booking. The bar opens half an hour before the show starts.
What it means for you
If you want a seat, book soon: it is a seated show, and the only ways in are the Dorchester Arts website and its box office phone line. The same week has plenty else on, from half-term trails to Halloween ghost trains; the full list is on our What’s On in Dorset this month page.
