We checked 6 places to buy a real Christmas tree in Dorset, from Trinity Street in Dorchester to Moors Valley, for prices and dates. Updated November 2026.
There are six places in Dorset selling real Christmas trees in 2026 with their opening dates published, and this guide puts them in one place with prices, hours and what each sells. Most people land on Trinity St Christmas Trees, which grows its own trees in Dorset and sells them from Trinity Street in Dorchester and three other pitches in the county; Moors Valley Country Park near Ashley Heath, where trees start at £40 and parking is free when you buy one; and Alderholt Christmas Trees, on the Cranborne Estate’s old tree farm. Every entry was checked against the seller’s own website on 5 November 2026.
We have not bought a tree from any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry says what the seller says it does, with its own prices where it publishes them. Sellers change their dates and run out of the popular sizes as December goes on, so ring before a long drive. The guide covers the Dorset Council area; Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are not included.

Dorchester and Weymouth
1. Trinity St Christmas Trees, Trinity Street, Dorchester
The firm takes its name from the street where Pete Hyde started selling trees about 35 years ago, as he told The BV in 2024. It now grows most of its trees on its own Dorset plantations and says “our Dorset grown Christmas trees mean fewer carbon miles”.
The Dorchester pitch, opposite the Co-op, is its biggest: it calls it “the complete Christmas centre for cut and rooted trees, tree stands, Christmas lighting, noble fir and holly wreaths”. It sells luxury and value Nordmann fir, Norway spruce, Fraser fir and Korean fir, plus pot-grown trees, and will net your tree.
Pete told The BV the firm does not offer cut your own, and that it replaces any non-drop tree that sheds its needles.
Its holly wreaths are £18 and its standard wreaths £32 to £38. The firm is collecting trees again for Weldmar Hospicecare’s Treecycle on 9, 10 and 11 January 2027, for a suggested donation of £10 a tree.

5. Moors Valley Christmas Tree Shop, Ashley Heath

Potted trees, wreaths and stands are sold too, and staff will help you pick a size. Parking is free all day when you buy a tree, so you can stay for the Room on the Broom trail or the Santa Specials on the Moors Valley Railway, which run on selected dates from 5 to 21 December at £32.95 a person.

6. Alderholt Christmas Trees, Daggons Road, Alderholt
The Cranborne Estate grew and sold Christmas trees at Alderholt for more than 40 years, and a Great British Life guide put its stock at more than 60,000 trees. The estate’s own page now says it “is no longer selling Christmas trees directly”, and that trees will still be sold on the site by Alderholt Christmas Trees.
It adds that “these are not Cranborne Estate-grown trees and the field will not be open to visitors”, so you buy from the yard rather than choosing in the field. Questions go to Alderholt Christmas Trees, not the estate office.
The estate’s page gives no year next to the opening date and no prices, so ring before you set off.
Open every day from 20 November, 9.30am to 4.30pm

Not confirmed for 2026
These sold trees in recent years but had nothing published for 2026 on 5 November, so they are not in the list above.
- Pull a Pine at RSPB Arne: visitors pull self-seeded pines off the heathland, which helps the reserve, and take one home as a Christmas tree. It ran on 29 and 30 November 2025 with advance tickets only. Check the RSPB’s Arne events page from mid-November.
- Groves Nurseries, Bridport: its old Christmas tree page has gone. Its Christmas market is on Thursday 19 November 2026, but its site does not say whether it is selling real trees this year.
- Norden Farm Shop and Lenctenbury Farm, near Corfe Castle: both appear in older tree lists, but neither site mentions trees this year.
After Christmas
Dorset Council does not collect Christmas trees at the kerb. Cut into pieces, a real tree can go in the garden waste bin once collections restart in January, or it can go to any household recycling centre; the January dates are on our bin collection days page. Trinity St customers can book Weldmar Hospicecare’s Treecycle collection on 9 to 11 January 2027 for a suggested £10 donation.
How we chose
We started from every Dorset seller named in recent tree guides and in the county’s local listings, then kept only the ones whose own website, or the landowner’s, gave 2026 opening dates. Prices, hours and addresses are copied from those pages as they stood on 5 November 2026; the BV interview and the Great British Life guide are named where they are used. Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole sellers are left out because they are outside the Dorset Council area.
